Big numbers come out for Legendary Raid, two-player battles underway

AS YOU might expect, the launch of the Pokemon Go Moltres Legendary Raid has proven very popular with fans, who have been waiting a long time to snap up the final Gen 1 types.

The Pokemon Go Moltres release looks to have been a big success for Niantic.

While July proved a big month for the popular Android and iOS game, it doesn’t appear like things will be slowing down much in August.

Legendary Raid launches began last month during Go Fest and will continue in the coming weeks, with more types being released and then replaced.

Many fans had to wait until today to start catching the new Legendary, Moltres, who was set live by Niantic to replace Articuno.

“The Legendary Pokemon Moltres has been spotted in Pokémon Go! Gather your friends and find a Legendary Raid Battle near you,” Niantic confirmed earlier today.

The new mini Pokemon Go events have been proving so popular that Trainers on Reddit have been showing off their player-count impact.

One user uploaded a picture, revealing that over 80 people turned out for one of the first Moltres Raids in their area.

That kind of player-count is pretty impressive and something that rural players can only dream about.

Others have also spoken of their experience, writing: “We had about 70 show up for the third spawn in my city. The first 2 were in really far odd parts that I didn’t feel like going to. We were on a street corner downtown and it was packed

“Billings, MT. 100k city. Not huge by any means, but we just evangelize our facebook group and everyone uses it well. I guess a 6th raid group organized after this, so we were pushing 100 people at this first one.”

Not everyone is having the same experience though, many other Trainers have reported turning up for the first Raids and being the only one there.

There have been other reports that some top players have managed to take Moltres down with just three players, although each players had some pretty beefy Pocket Monster lineups.

There was also an attempt to capture Moltres with just two Trainers, with the Reddit user explaining: “Tried to duo and got the Moltres down to 10%.

“Definitely possible. 3 very high trainers can three-person it with fair ease.”

While they may have failed in their attempts to beat Moltres with just two people, it appears players have found their Pokemon of choice for these new Raids.

Here’s the teams used to try and take down the Legendary Bird:
