The symbol was seen for the first time on . . . Australian morning television!?

In May, shortly after her wedding to Prince HarryMeghan Markle’s coat of arms (which incorporated several references to her home state of California, as well as her penchant for “communication”) and her official monogram were revealed. The monogram, comprised of a somewhat whimsical “M,” seemed quite in line with Meghan’s own cursive; Meghan, as you may recall, is a former calligrapher (and in fact provided the calligraphy for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding!). Harry’s own monogram—consisting of, can you believe it, an “H”—had been unveiled in 2017.

Well, it was only a matter of time before we were blessed with the sight of their jointmonogram. And we have . . . an Australian morning show host to thank for the new symbol’s debut on the global stage. Last week, on the country’s Today Show, host Georgie Gardner showed off a thank-you note she had received from Harry and Meghan for the picnic blanket she had gifted them for their wedding.

In the video clip, the joint monogram can be spotted: the “H” and the “M” elegantly intertwined! (Also, if you were curious what sort of sign-off Harry and Meghan use for their thank you notes, it’s “All the best,” immediately rendering all other sign-off possibilities corny and ill-advised.) The joint monogram also features a coronet(consisting of crosses pattée, fleurs-de-lys, and strawberry leaves, per People), atop the letter combination. It is also colored in royal blue, as is Harry’s singular monogram, which in both cases is thought to be a tribute to Princess Diana, as royal blue was her favorite color.
