Niantic will treat augmented reality gaming fans to a real treat this weekend. The Grass Event will see Pokemon Go gamers flock outdoors while playing the app, which was rolled out across the World last summer.
The event will reportedly increase the encounter rates of certain creatures.
It comes hot off the heels of Valentine’s Day and Easter events of a similar nature, as well as the recently-concluded Water Festival.
The event will last from Friday, May 5 and ends Monday, May 8.
Though developer Niantic hasn’t specified times, there is a chance it’ll be the same times as the recent Water Festival, which kicked off at 8pm UK time.
According to Niantic, we can expect to see more “grass-type Pokémon” to appear in the wild throughout the event.
Bulbasaur and Chikorita have been confirmed.
Among the other generation one and two Pokemon we may see are Oddish, Bellsprout, Sunkern and Exeggcute.
Earlier this week, gamers reportedly received mysterious promo codes from the tech giant.
Several have reported that promo codes from Niantic have arrived for their avatar overnight.
Rumours are flying that the promo codes could signal another big update for the mobile game.
Some believe that Niantic Labs will reveal the point of the promo codes later this week.
Others are hoping it could have something to do with player vs player battles and trading – features that Niantic has long promised are coming to the game.
Whatever the reason, it shows that the mobile game has plenty more to offer players in a bid to keep them coming back for more.
