MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry will travel 4,000 miles for a ‘Royal Retreat’ as part of their Royal Wedding honeymoon, it has been revealed.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will travel to Alberta, Canada, for a stay at a luxury cabin already known as the ‘Royal Retreat’.
They are believed to be planning a stay at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in the Outlook Cabin, which has already welcomed four Royals including the Queen and Prince Philip in 2005.
The honeymoon destination was revealed by US celebrity website TMZ today, who said the resort has also “ordered some gear and goodies it doesn’t normally keep on hand”.
Security from both the UK and Canadian government will also be drafted in to ensure the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex can enjoy their stay in peace.
The Outlook Cabin is drenched in Royal history, with King George and Elizabeth, the Queen mother, visiting in 1939.
In 2005 Queen Elizabeth also visited the rural retreat with Prince Philip.
Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge’s website promises a “supreme” experience and says it is the perfect place to “celebrate a special occasion”.
It said: “This beautiful cabin – also known as the Royal Retreat – was recreated from the floor plans of the 1930 original, which was destroyed by fire in 2000.
“Every inch of this prestigious dwelling exudes the elegance and grandeur that has welcomed King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1939 as well as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 2005.
“Supreme comfort is present in every detail of the sumptuously comfortable bedrooms, enclosed verandas and majestic stone fireplace that warms both the dining room and great room.
“It is the perfect place to entertain family & friends or celebrate a special occasion.”
Before jetting off to Canada the pair are believed to be planning a flying visit to Ireland.
A source close to the newlyweds said Meghan and Harry are planning a one-night ‘mini-moon’, something which would mark the Duke’s first visit to Ireland.
