MEGHAN MARKLE will make a special feminist appearance alongside Prince Harry to mark the date exactly one month before their May 19 wedding. The event involves a reception focussed on women’s empowerment.
Meghan Markle, 36, is set to marry Prince Harry, 33, on May 19 in a royal wedding ceremony– and the couple have announced a very special feminist engagement ahead of their upcoming nuptials.
Meghan, along with Harry, will make an official appearance at a reception dedicated to women’s empowerment on April 19.
The appearance will be an appropriate way to mark one month until their wedding date, given Meghan’s notable attachment to the feminist cause.
The couple will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Women’s Empowerment reception which will be held at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London.
Plans for the offical engagement were announced this evening on the official Kensington Palace Twitter account.
It comes after Prince Harry was appointed president of the newly formed youth charity, The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
The official announcement read: “On Thursday 19th April, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry will attend the CHOGM Formal Opening and CHOGM State Dinner at Buckingham Palace.
“Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle will also attend a CHOGM Women’s Empowerment reception at the Royal Aeronautical Society.”
LA born actress Meghan has previously been out-spoken about her strong feminist beliefs.
She previously made a feminist speech at the United Nations’ International Women’s Day conference in 2015.
She said: “Women make up more than half of the world’s population and potential.
“So it is neither just nor practical for their voices, for our voices, to go unheard at the highest levels of decision making.”
The announcement also detailed a number of other engagements the couple would be attending ahead of Meghan and Harry’s wedding day.
These included a reception with delegates from the Commonwealth Youth Forum at the QEII on 18 April, which Harry and Meghan will be attending.
Prince Harry will also be taking part in a roundtable discussion of the Commonwealth Youth Forum with youth representatives on 16 April.
Earlier today, it was reported that there is Meghan Markle royal wedding family drama ahead of the nuptials.
The half sister to Meghan Markle has blasted her for invited thousands of people she has never met to her nuptials.
Samantha Grant claimed the actress does not “respect” her family after hearing the news.
She wrote on Wednesday morning on Twitter: “The Markle family is looking forward to our wedding invites. No-one has one yet.
“Still waiting. I hope London is wheelchair friendly. Excited!”. She then changed her profile picture on Twitter to images of herself and Meghan together.
