POKEMON Go fans will be on the look out for more than just Gen 3 Pokemon when the Halloween 2017 event release date rolls around.

Pokemon Go fans’ worst fears have been realised ahead of the Halloween 2017 event.

The latest Niantic leak appears to confirm the inclusion of ANOTHER hat-clad Pikachu for Halloween.

A leaked App Store image posted on The Silph Road features Pikachu in a witch’s hat. Players will presumably be able to capture this Pikachu variant for the duration of the Halloween 2017 event.

Fortunately, Pikachu is pictured alongside a selection of Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3 Ghost Pokemon, which means the rumours of a Gen 3 launch were true.

The picture includes Duskull and Sableye, but fans can also expect the likes of Shuppet, Banette and Dusclops.

It’s unclear if the Halloween 2017 event will coincide with the release of additional Gen 3 Pokemon, or if they’re being saved for a future release.

Fans spotted a reference to another Ghost Type Pokemon from a later generation hidden within an earlier leak.

The player avatar featured in a recently leaked image is wearing a Mimikyu hat, which suggests the Generation 7 Pokemon may make an appearance in some form.

It’s likely players will be able to equip their own Mimikyu hats, similar to the Magikarp hat that was introduced during the Water Festival.

Dataminers found evidence of Gen 3 Pokemon within recent update files.

The only thing missing were the Gen 3 sound files needed to replicate the new Pokemon.

However, these were discovered in the most recent Pokemon Go update, as well as the spooky Lavender Town theme from Pokemon Red and Blue.

There’s also evidence to suggest that a new Halloween-themed map display may appear at night.

While fans wait for more information about the Halloween event, Niantic has launched an AR photography competition for Pokemon Go fans.

The competition, which runs until October 25, tasks players with snapping the best AR images and posting them on Instagram.

“We’re challenging you to snap epic Pokemon Go AR photos and post them on Instagram using the hashtag #PokemonGOcontest,” reads a Niantic blog post.

“If your AR photo is selected as one of the top 10 submissions, you’ll win a Pokemon Go Prize Pack containing a Pokemon Go Plus, a poster autographed by the Pokemon Go team, and wireless Bluetooth earbuds.

“You only have until October 25 to submit your best AR photo, so go on an adventure, take a photo, and share it with us on Instagram!”
