SARAH FERGUSON, the Duchess of Cornwall, 58, has been in Greece recently. The mother of Princess Eugenie, 28, has come under criticism for posting images of the Marriott hotel in Athens today.
Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie, came under fire today.
The mother-of-two to Princess Beatrice, 30, and Princess Eugenie, visited Greece after a fire caused chaos in Athens.
Sarah, who has 95,300 followers on her Instagram account posed with Greek politician Elena Kountoura and posted a heartfelt message.
She wrote: “In deepest sympathy to all families in the tragedy of the fires in Greece.
“Thank you to #elenakountoura, the Greek people and services who are working tirelessly in such difficult circumstances.”
Fans praised the Duchess for her message.
One wrote: “You’re a class act Fergie. Good to see you thriving!”
Another said: “You are such an inspiration Sarah. Absolutely devastating what has happened in Greece, thoughts are with them.”
Today Sarah created another post, this time with two pictures.
She wrote alongside it: “Staff and customer service excellent .. atmosphere superb, very comfortable, a great place for a stay in Athens @marriotthotels #athens #greece.”
However, today’s post has not gone down so well.
It seemed some followers felt that Sarah may have been paid for the post or misread the mood in the country currently.
One Instagram user said: “Your post smacks slightly of an advertisement for Marriott Hotels and as such your motivation to say this makes me wonder if you weren’t paid to make this statement.
“Not cool especially in your position.”
“Wild fires killing scores only a few miles from here and all she can talk about is the luxury hotel,” another said.
One more wrote: “Great Sarah, in this tragic moment, Athens needs a lot of advertising.”
However, some were more positive, and one said: “Love all the work you do. You’re a fantastic example of how people should spend their time, talents, energy. Thanks for being you.”
“Such a beautiful soul. So proud to watch you become such an amazing role model.. bless,” another fan wrote.
Sarah recently reposted a message from a CEO of a charity of which she is a patron criticising an article about her daughter Princess Eugenie.
The Duchess of York’s youngest daughter is getting married in the same location as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did.
