New event on hold as Niantic reveal disappointing new update

POKEMON GO fans are eagerly awaiting the new event for Fire and Ice type Pokemon, but in the meantime Niantic has unveiled a disappointing new update.

Pokemon GO players are no doubt eager to jump into the new upcoming event for Fire and Ice type Pokemon, not to mention the games long awaited Legendary Summer update.

It’s believed that this “MAJOR” update to the game will introduce Legendary Pokemon, PVP battles and something called Raids, which for the time being remain something of a mystery.

For the time being though, Niantic has just pushed out a new update for the game, although the results of the games latest APK mime is unlikely to please fans hoping for big sweeping changes to the game.

“Although we expected to find more than just bug fixes, this APK update really contains only bug fixes,” explains the Pokemon GO Hub.

The only major change to be released it seems is a resolution to the Pokemon Trainer Club (PTC) errors in the game, which supposedly has been fixed entirely.

In addition, it’s been noted that there are no changes to static assets such as text, sounds and images.

“Although this update is a bit disappointing, it is expected that a small maintenance update will go out before a larger update lands later this month.” continued the Pokemon GO Hub.

“As the v0.63.4 release has no significant changes to explain the lengthy development process, we expect the future 0.65.x update to contain all of the required client code for the gym rework.”

It doesn’t matter though, because if the ‘Leaked’ information from TeamEevolution (the well-known source of Pokemon GO leaks who correctly predicted the recent Water Festival) then we should have a new Pokemon GO event in just a couple of days.

Obviously, as this isn’t official yet, we have to take it with a pinch of salt, but given how accurate TeamEevolution have been previously, we think it’s safe to say you can get a bit excited by the below information.

Based on the intel provided this event should start June 13 1:00 P.M. PDT and June 20 1:00 P.M. PDT, 2017, which is intended to celebrate the beginning of summer in Northern Hemisphere and the start of winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

Primarily players will see increased spawns for Fire and Ice Pokemon (which you can see detailed in the gallery below) but as with most events in the game, there will be additional bonuses on top.

For instance, it’s reported that Trainers will receive more XP for all throw bonuses (‘Nice’, ‘Great’, and ‘Excellent’ Throws) in addition to extra XP for Curveballs and First Throw captures.

On top of this, there;s also more XP rewarded for hatching Eggs, with a 50% Lucky Egg discount also rumoured for the shop. Which makes sense, as this is how Niantic primarily make their money through the in-game shop.

Should this information be correct it means that fans will start to see an increase in the following Pokemon:

FIRE: Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Vulpix, Ninetails, Growlithe, Arcanine, Ponyta, Rapidash, Magmar, Flareon, Cyndaquil, Quilava, Typhlosion, Slugma, Magcargo, Houndoor and Houndoom.

ICE: Seel, Dewgong, Shelder, Cloyster, Jynx, Lapras, Sneasel, Swinub and Piloswine.

TeamEevolution has also managed to get hold of a leaked public statement, which would normally be released on the Pokemon GO website just priot to the start of the event. It reads:

With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!
