Pokemon Go news: Let’s Go Pikachu update, Shiny Pokemon release, Articuno reveal

POKEMON GO news this week includes a new Shiny Pokemon release, Articuno’s return and the Let’s Go Pikachu game for Switch.

A new Shiny Pokemon has been released by Niantic this week, sending variant hunters into a frenzy.

Trainers recently saw the release of five new Shiny pocket monsters during Adventure Week, a nice timely bonus that kept fans busy.

And now this week has seen a Shiny Absol launched as a reward in the latest Field Research tasks.

The Dark-type has only been available through Raids up until this point, making it a great time to add it to your team.

It’s part of the new “Throw an Excellent Curveball” quest and will be available this week.

And like other major Field Research releases, Trainers can encounter a Shiny Absol, if they are very lucky.

Pokemon Go fans can now capture a new Legendary Pocket Monster without participating in a Raid.

The new batch of Pokemon Go Field Research tasks are live and focus on Water-type Pokemon such as Seel, Kingler and Horsea.

Best of all, earning enough stamps for a Research Breakthrough unlocks an encounter with the Legendary Articuno.

Coming straight from the Alolan region, players can now catch the special Exeggutor form from the Sun & Moon games.

This will be popping up on the Pokemon Go map at a higher rate for a limited time; Niantic have not confirmed how long for though.

June also sees the return of Pokemon Go Community Day, which takes place on June 16.

Ideal for anybody looking to capture the powerful Tyranitar, the next Community Day focuses on Larvitar.

Pokemon Go Community Day events also feature a wealth of other bonuses.

Lures last for the duration of Community Day events, giving players a better chance of catching a Shiny Pokemon.

The next event will reward players with triple XP for catching Pokemon, while past events have featured extra Stardust and reduced hatching distances for eggs.

Trainers can also learn a special move exclusive to the Community Day event.
