Prince Harry has struck up a close friendship with fiancée Meghan Markle’s dad – and calls him regularly to discuss the couple’s wedding.
Their rapport was revealed by Lori Davis, a young mum who has also formed a bond with reclusive Thomas Markle.
And she denied claims the royal had alienated his future father-in-law.
She said: “Talk that Harry had upset Tom with comments about their family aren’t true.
“He thinks Harry’s a great guy – he couldn’t have wished for a better son-in-law.”
Lori, who has enjoyed dinner dates with 73-year-old Thomas, added: “They’ve had many conversations. Friendly conversations. He’s delighted for them.
“Tom misses his daughter terribly. He and Meghan have always been really close.”
Mr Markle, who lives near Rosarito in Mexico, has yet to meet Harry, 33 – but their bond began when the prince called him to ask to marry Meghan, 36.
Lori, 38, also dismissed claims the retired TV lighting director, who left Los Angeles after going bankrupt, has been snubbed for the wedding in favour of Prince William giving Meghan away.
She said: “He doesn’t plan on not going. Out of respect, Tom says little – but I can’t imagine him not being invited. He’d love to walk her down the aisle.”
Mum-of-one Lori also refuted claims Mr Markle’s “chronic limp” would stop him travelling to Windsor for the May 19 ceremony. She said: “Tom is fine, it’s nothing like people have said.
“He has a slight hobble but nothing that would stop him attending.”
Lori and her daughter, 10, have grown close to Mr Markle since he moved nearby. She said: “He stays to himself, but is very friendly.”
