One person who usually gets left out is Cersei Lannister, probably because she’s currently on the Throne and has spent eight season lying, betraying and killing in order to get there. Which makes it hard to root for her.
Yet, cast member Lena Headey admitted to Jimmy Kimmel Live during an appearance this week that she’s still solidly backing Cersei to hold onto the throne — out of obligation, if nothing else!
“Someone has to [root for her],” she said.
“Yeah, no, I’m hoping that in the end somebody is on the Iron Throne, but I don’t necessarily want it to be you,” Kimmel then admitted to her as Headey gave him a death stare.
“It’s nothing against you,” the host then promised.
As the audience chuckled, Headey offered: “Shall I — I’ll go?”
“I thought, well, it’s been nine years, it’s been amazing,” she remembered. “I’m happy to go and find new things, and then I knew that David and Dan, our creators, were doing speeches and giving everybody these drawings of their storyboards.
“I suddenly got really emotional, and I tried to head down the stairs. They all rushed up and trapped me, and they gave the speech. It was really moving.”
She then quipped: “They said some shitty things but it was all in good humour!”
Unfortunately for fans, Maisie Williams (aka Arya Stark) warned earlier this week that they’re likely to be in their feelings too when Game of Thrones ends because she predicted “no one will be satisfied”.
